How dispute statuses work
Last updated: November 3, 2026
Every dispute has a status that tells you whether it needs your decision, is under review, or is closed. Check the Dispute Status column in the Citation Dispute Report to see what to do next.

How it works
Active
The dispute was submitted and is waiting for your review. Every new dispute starts here, and it's where most of your daily work happens.
Expiring Soon
The dispute has been active long enough that its response deadline is close. Make these your top priority. Letting one expire without a response can affect the outcome.
Pending Adjudication
The dispute has been escalated for review. This usually happens when:
You chose Request Investigation from the Actions menu.
The resident or guest contested your first decision.
The dispute met the criteria for automatic escalation.
ParkingPass support and, if needed, your patrol partner review the violation, patrol scan data, and your enforcement configuration. You may be asked for more information, so respond promptly. When a decision is reached, the status updates and the resident, your community, and the patrol partner are notified.
Pending Adjudication isn't open-ended. Most disputes resolve within a few business days, though complex cases can take longer.
Approved
The dispute was decided in the resident's favor. The citation, boot, or tow is reversed and any charges are refunded.
Denied
The dispute was decided in your community's favor. The original enforcement action stands.
Canceled
The dispute was closed without a final decision. Usually the resident withdrew it, the violation was already resolved, or the dispute window expired.
Who can use it
Property managers.
Where to find it
Go to Reports, open the Citation Dispute Report, and check the Dispute Status column. Filter by Dispute Status to see one status at a time. The dashboard's Citation Disputes panel also shows counts for Expiring Soon, Active Disputes, and Pending Adjudication.
What you can do with it
Find and sort disputes — see Citation Dispute Report overview.
Approve, deny, or request an investigation — see Responding to a citation dispute.
Important notes
Review every Active and Expiring Soon dispute promptly. In many cases, a dispute that expires without a response is treated much like an approval.
ParkingPass doesn't issue or override enforcement actions. Every decision is made by you or through adjudication review.
