How guest pass expiration reminders work
Last updated: November 4, 2026
Guest pass expiration reminders tell the host resident when a pass is about to end, so they can extend it, issue a new one, or let it expire. They go to the resident, not the guest.
How it works
As a pass nears its end date, ParkingPass sends the host resident three expiration reminders, each by email and text. When the pass expires, the resident gets a final expiration notice, also by email and text.
Reminders go to the resident because they're the one who can act. Guests don't get them, since they don't have ParkingPass accounts.
The reminders give the resident time to:
Extend the pass, if your community allows it and the guest is staying longer.
Issue a new pass for the same vehicle when this one ends.
Let it expire, if the guest is leaving on schedule.
When a pass expires, its status changes to Expired and the vehicle is no longer authorized to park. If it's still on-site, it's subject to your community's standard parking policy.
Unlike guest passes, Do-Not-Tow entries expire without any reminder.
Who can use it
Roles: reminders go to residents. Property managers can check what was sent.
Package: the Enterprise package.
Where to find it
Reminders are sent automatically. To check what a resident received, open their profile, click Quick Actions, and choose View Email Log or View SMS Log.
What you can do with it
Check whether reminders were sent — see Email and SMS logs overview.
Extend a pass after a reminder — see Extending a guest pass.
See every automated message ParkingPass sends — see How automated notifications work.
Important notes
Text reminders depend on the resident's phone number. If it's outdated, they'll only get the email version.
If a resident says the reminders are too frequent, they're working as designed. They stop once the pass expires.
